An Old-Money, State-Of-The-Art Oasis in the Middle of Singapore
At The Raffles Hotel Singapore, neo-renaissance architecture stands out from the surrounding skyscrapers and is one of the few remaining 19th century hotels in the world.

The Raffles Hotel Singapore
This hotel has been seeing Singapore grow ever since 1887, and has been home - temporarily - to many celebrities of all kinds, from the Queen Elisabeth II, to Michael Jackson or Johnny Depp, as well as seen the birth of the famous Singapore Sling cocktail.
The hotel, which was once at the beachfront, is today located on Beach Road, and between stunning skyscrapers.
Class at First Sight
First thing you see as you approach the hotel is it’s iconic facade, designed by the Armenian architect Regent Alfred John Bidwell in 1899, and built in a Neo-Renaissance style, some years after the original hotel opened up for their guests in 1887, and being enlarged from the original 10 bungalows to a total of 72 suites, and later on the final and current 115.
Surrounded by palm trees, the “porte-cochère” allows for guests to get off their car’s comfortably. As soon as you step-off your vehicle, you will be warm welcomed by the very iconic Doormen outside the Raffles.
Once the Doorman has greeted you, a very friendly front office team will check you in in the Grand Lobby.
The Rooms
At The Raffles Singapore, regardless of the room you choose, you will have a personal butler at your disposal, 24/7, who can help you book restaurants, activities or even unpack and pack your luggage.
All rooms are suites, and what changes is the location within the building, with the only exception of the Studio Suites. Except for these last ones, all rooms have separate living and sleeping areas, featuring luxurious bathrooms with best-in-class amenities.
The best option: The Palm Court Suite
The most affordable room class is the Suite State Room, however, and as there is no big difference in price, I will just talk about what I think is the best option, the Palm Court Suites. Remember, all rooms at The Raffles Hotel Singapore are suites.
All rooms at the property feature the most luxurious materials, equipment and amenities, it’s only that their location is different to all the other suite classes.
You will be able to walk into the suite from two different entrances, one leading to the parlour and the other one to the incredibly sumptuous bedroom. All of them will give you access to a shared verandah that overlooks the Palm Court and that will make you feel like you were in the middle of the jungle.
I personally love hotel bathrooms, especially when it’s in a 5-star hotel. Raffles Singapore’s bathrooms are just breathtaking, they feature all-marble, with colorful Peranakan-Inspired tiles, separate bathtub and walk-in shower, as well as luxury bathroom products by Omno.
The Raffles offers complimentary daily Newspapers’ service to keep you posted, navy blue paisley-patterned slippers to make your stay even more comfortable, free soft minibar to quench your thirst and free SPF 50 by the Poolside to keep you protected against the UV.
The rooftop-salt-watered swimming pool is sided by loungers and with a top-level pool bar served by experienced bartenders and hostesses offering complimentary cold water. Feels like an oasis in the middle of the humid and hot Singapore.
